Welcome to Cedar Creek

Semi-Private 18-Hole Championship Arthur Hills Design

The Cedar Creek Golf Club was recognized in the 2008-2009 editions of Golf Digest’s Best Places to Play and has earned acclaim throughout the southeast as a fair test of golf for members and guests alike. The gently rolling sand hills and pine forests of Aiken, South Carolina, provided the perfect canvas for renowned golf course architect, Arthur Hills, ASGCA, to build this gem in the Central Savannah River Area.

Cedar Creek Golf Club has a “distinctively wooded feel” as it wanders through the topography of the region. The course length varies from a challenging 6,939 yards for the serious player to 4,387 yards with seven tee boxes to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. The course rating from the back tees is 74.1 with a slope rating of 142. The course was constructed originally with Bermuda 419 fairways and Bermuda TifDwarf Greens. The course opened in 1991.

Jim McNair, Jr., owner of the historic Aiken Golf Club, assumed ownership of the Cedar Creek Golf Club in 2012. Redesigning and “softening” of the course began in 2015 with the assistance of superintendent, Gary Frazier, and his maintenance crew. All of the tees, fairways and green surrounds with TifGrand Bermuda was done. All of the greens were totally rebuilt and sprigged with MiniVerde Bermuda. Dramatic and aesthetically pleasing changes to the design included subtle re-contouring of fairways and the addition of attractive stone walls fronting holes #3 and #5 as well. Several bunkers were removed, many were reshaped and a few additional bunkers and waste areas were added throughout the course. Concrete cart paths have been added to a number of the holes with others planned for in the near future.

Upgrades and changes to the entire facility are on going and will continue as we transform the course making it one of the top golf courses in the surrounding area and the southern states.
