Welcome to Houndslake

We have over three hundred acres of beautiful lush greens, thousands of colorful Azaleas, and majestic Dogwoods. Houndslake Country Club centers around a 27-hole Championship golf course, swimming pool, tennis, dining and more.

In the early 20th Century Aiken was established as an exclusive winter resort by wealthy northerners. They built their “winter colony” in the sand hills of Aiken County and developed a society focused on the personal pursuit of gracious southern living. Their interest centered around Polo ponies, thoroughbreds and the fine art of Golf. This culture still thrives today, and in the center of it all, you will find Houndslake Country Club, over three hundred acres of beautiful lush greens, thousands of colorful Azaleas and majestic Dogwoods. Houndslake Country Club centers around an 27-hole Championship golf course designed in 1974 by Joe Lee, who planned the likes of Doral, La Costa and Disney World. The three nines provide pleasure to the average golfer and a memorable challenge to the champion. Each nine measures a little over 3,300 yards and they each play to a par of 36.

Houndslake Country Club was designed to offer versatility for both the weekend golfer and the professional. The Dogwood and Laurel nines have played host to the 1977 and 1981 South Carolina Golf Association Amateur Championship, the 1982 and 1984 South Carolina Golf Association Four Ball Championship, the 2001 and 2002 South Carolina PGA Pro Junior, several United States Amateur Qualifiers, The Women’s Transnational Amateur, The Women’s Transnational Amateur, Joe Wyatt High School Junior Invitational, and is the home of the Women’s Eastern Golf Association Senior Championship.

The mild, agreeable climate of Aiken allows year-round outdoor recreation. The beautiful courses wind through a quiet residential community. The spacious clubhouse offers casual and fine dining opportunities along with private rooms for meeting space for ten to 250. The Ballroom at the Club has become one of the most desired facilities for wedding receptions. Our golf and tennis shops offer all the support in equipment, instruction and organization needed for a special golf or tennis experience. Our resident golf and tennis professionals offer clinics and tournaments in addition to private lessons for all ages and abilities. The tennis facility includes eight lighted tennis courts and between the golf and tennis centers lies the Olympic sized swimming pool, complete with bathhouse and snack bar. The Club boasts one of the area’s championship summer league swim teams.
